Hont.
The gate to the region of Hont is Krupina. It
is situated 178 km from Bratislava, 138 km from Budapest, 48
from Banska Bystrica, and 36 from Sliač airport. In 1218 King
Ondrej V gave the town its first coat of arms with the Easter
lamb. According to historical records Krupina belongs among the
oldest towns in Slovakia. The region is characterized by vineyards
and wine cellars dating from the 16th century. The history of
the area is known by its castle ruins and includes Bzovik and
Cabrad. The healing thermal mineral waters at Dudince are used
by patients from all over Europe.
